방금 발표한 빌보드차트(11.17일자)에 의하면, <강남스타일>이 2위에 랭크되었다는데
이처럼 빌보드 hot 100 차트 정상 문턱에서 7주 연속 주춤리거고 있는 이유는
바로 'Maroon5'라는 강력한 실력자가 버티고 있기 때문이라고 합니다.
'마룬5'라는 이름은 들어봤어도 솔직히 잘 모르는 그룹이기에 평가할 수는 없으나
음악을 감상해보니 꽤 안정된 실력을 겸비한 그룹임엔 틀림없는 것 같습니다.
그러니 현재 <강남스타일>의 맹추격을 뿌리치며 부동의 1위를 달리고 있다는

마룬 5(Maroon 5)는 미국 캘리포니아 출신의 5인조 팝 록 밴드이다.
멤버는 리더인 애덤 리바인 (보컬, 기타)과, 제시 카마이클 (키보드), 미키 매든 (베이스), 제임스 발렌타인 (기타), 맷 플린 (드럼)이다.
고등학교 동창 애덤 리바인, 제스 카마이클, 미키 매든, 라이언 두식이 1994년 결성한 카라스 플라워스 (Kara's Flowers)가 전신이다.
카라스 플라워스는 The Fourth World라는 앨범을 낸 뒤에 학업으로 인해 해산하지만, 기타리스트 제임스 발렌타인을 영입한 후 마룬 5를 결성하였다.
도중에 드러머 라이언 두식이 부상악화로 탈퇴를 하고, 맷 플린을 영입하여 현재의 마룬 5가 되었다.
마룬 5는 2002년, Songs About Jane으로 데뷔하여 전 세계 많은 나라에서 멀티 플래티넘을 기록했고 제47회 그래미 어워드에서 신인상을 수상하며 전 세계적으로 음악성을 인정받았다.
그들의 최고의 히트작 중 하나로 뽑히는 Hands All Over의 싱글 Moves Like Jagger는 발매 후 전 세계적으로 850만장을 넘는 기록을 세워 세계에서 가장 많이 팔린 싱글 목록에 이름을 올렸다.
그리고 2012년 6월 26일, 네 번 째 정규 앨범인 Overexposed 가 발매되었다.
